Country Life Acres Kitchen

Creative design solutions transformed a small, outdated room with a drop-down ceiling into a spacious, sunlit kitchen that opens onto a patio and pool area that are perfect for entertaining. Drawing inspiration from classic design elements, we capped the 60″ Wolf range with a statement hood trimmed with brass moldings. A side-by-side refrigerator/freezer is encased in custom walnut cabinetry with brass moldings and hardware. We also emphasized a classical symmetry by placing paned windows on either side of the range and, to the left and right of the farm sink, added a pair of mirrored wall sconces. A marble-topped island creates a stately centerpiece for the kitchen, resting on a walnut base and black-and-white marble flooring.

This challenging project included design of a bar that had formerly occupied a cramped corner. After removing walls, the bar now greets guests in a welcoming space off the grand dining room. Multiple appliances, including an ice machine and wine fridge, are concealed behind cabinetry panels with a high-gloss paint finish and custom inlaid brass wainscoting and hardware with an antique look. The countertop and backsplash are crafted of soapstone carefully selected to complement a smoked glass mirror accented with brass button inlays. A brass wall-mounted faucet by Rohl and mirrored brass sconces add finishing touches appropriate to this historic home.
