Armstrong Master Bathroom
Modern spa and resort spaces inspired our transformation of a traditional master bath. Embracing a sleek, minimalist design, terrazzo tile floor and walls—not often seen in St. Louis—pair beautifully with the natural walnut chosen for a floating vanity. At the same time, “kit kat” white tile creates a textured backdrop for the concrete bathtub, which was nearly abandoned as it could not be delivered via a narrow stairwell. Ultimately, the 400-pound tub was lifted through a second-story bathroom window. The bold, over-sized pendant light, which hovers above the tub, was purchased on a serendipitous shopping trip to New York.
For the homeowners, the walk-in shower has proved to be as practical as it is pleasurable to use. Cleaning is simplified as there is minimal grout, as well as a sloped, flush, zero-entry floor. The couple also appreciate the form and function of the vanity wall, designed with a trio of wall sconces and a pair of custom mirrors framed in black metal and set above a stone backsplash. Polished brass Eclissi fixtures by Rohl are wall-mounted over twin vessel sink bowls that maintain the clean, modern aesthetic.
